Instruction for authors

The Journal publishes original unpublished research papers in the Lithuanian, English, German and Russian languages.

Two printed manuscript copies of a good quality and an electronic copy prepared by MS Word editor and of Times New Roman type should be submitted to the Editorial Board. The text of a paper should be printed on one side of a sheet of paper of A4 format in 1,5 interval of 12 pt type. The volume of a paper is up to 10 pages. The pagination is made below on the right. Authors should sign the second manuscript copy. On a separate sheet and on an electronic copy information about authors is to be presented: name, surname, working place and its address, telephoene (home, job), fax, E-mail. If a paper has more than one author, a person responsible for correspondence with the Editorial Board of the Journal should be indicated. A paper is to be reviewed by 2 members of the Editorial Board or by its appointed experts. An accepted paper should be corrected by the author taking into account the remarks of the reviewers, or the motives of disregard for the remarks should be explained. A printed copy and an electronic copy of the corrected paper are to be presented to the Editorial Board not later than in a fortnight after obtaining the review; together the author returns the manuscript of the reviewed paper.

Before the introduction of a paper its following elements are presented: the title, the authors’ names and surnames, the name and address of institutions (represented by the author or co-authors), E-mail and the date of the paper submission. Then an abstract (of not less than 600 typographic signs) and keywords (6–10 items) are presented.

A research paper should include the following parts: introduction (the object and goal of research, methods applied, literature review and analysis), the main text, conclusions (or generalization), a list of references. At the end information about the author or co-authors of a paper is to be presented in English: name, surname, scientific biography, including degrees, titles, probation and membership; employment, basic publications, reseach interests, followed by a Lithuanian translation of the English abstract and keywords. Figures are to be presented by one of the files *.jpg, *.tif, *.wmf, their resolution should be not less than 300 dpi. If authors have no possibility to present high-quality computer versions of figures, they can submit their originals together with a paper. Figures taken from Internet are unfit for printing. The numbers of figures and Tables (Fig 1, Table 3) and their definitions are to be given in Lithuanian and English. References in the text are to be numerated in turn by Arabic numerals in square brackets (`1`, [2, p. 17]).

The list of references should be presented at the end of the text in alphabetic order.

Editorial Policy

The journal Town Planning and Architecture (Urbanistika ir architektūra) welcomes original research articles in all areas of town planning and architecture in the Lithuanian, English, German and Russian languages. The submission of the manuscript implies that it has neither been previously published nor is being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors are entirely responsible for the statements, whether fact or opinion. All papers are peer reviewed by two experts appointed by the Editorial Board. The referees remain anonymous unless they request to be identified.

Editorial correspondence, including manuscripts for submission should be addressed to:

Peer review is practiced to ensure that high quality scientific material is published. The Editors read each submitted manuscript to decide if the topic and content of the paper fit the aims and scope of Town planning and architecture. Authors of manuscripts rejected at this stage will be informed within 2 weeks of receipt. Manuscripts that are appropriate are passed on to at least two experts for review.
The Reviewers are matched to the paper according to their expertise. Typically a manuscript will be reviewed within two months. Referees may request more than one revision of a manuscript.
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the corresponding author along with any recommendations made by the referees. An accepted paper should be corrected by the author taking into account the remarks of the reviewers, or the motives of disregard for the remarks should be explained.

The authors may look up the guidelines for preparing research papers here.
