Description

The aim of this international journal is to promote ideas in the field of linguistics and language studies. These have always been very broad and diverse fields, which are still broadening now. As other scholarly disciplines, language studies undergo two, seemingly counteracting, processes. The first is the process of diversification of the field into narrower and narrower domains of specialisation, while the other, resulting from interdisciplinarity, is the process of convergence. It is in fact the latter of the two, aiming to bridge gaps between modular compartments of language studies and to show the multidimensional nature of language, which will be the focus of the journal. Language in its entirety, not only with its traditional division into phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics but its overlaps, borderline areas, relations with vision and other systems, the psychological and social shaping of linguistic convention and creativity, questions of language and the mind, that will find their place in this journal. The related disciplines are perceived here not as threats but as natural and necessary allies.
Aside from excellent articles, RiL also publishes book reviews.
