Versita has begun offering MetaPress e-publishing technology to scholarly journals in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. On November 20-22 we held a series of presentations in Ljubljana, Zagreb and Belgrade. The interest has been beyond our expectations. For instance, in Belgrade around 100 guests took part in the presentation that was co-organized by Versita and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). We believe that soon the first journals in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia will enjoy the benefits of MetaPress e-publishing technology.

We are proud to inform that Profesor Mariusz Z. Ratajczak, Editor-in-Chief of the Central European Journal of Biology , has been awarded the prestigious prize from the Foundation of Polish Science (FNP). FNP individual prizes are granted to eminent Polish scientists for significant achievements and discoveries, and are regarded as the 'Polish Nobel prizes'. This year's prize in the field of life sciences and medicine was awarded in recognition of Prof. Ratajczak's discovery of cells from adult bone marrow and cord blood that functionally resemble embryonic stem cells. These cells appear to mimic the ability of stem cells to multiply and develop into other kinds of cells, and their discovery has the potential to change the face of stem cell research. We would like to congratulate Professor Ratajczak on this outstanding achievement and wish him every further success in the future!
