Content and Structure of the Manuscripts

Title: According to the methods of modern information science, the titles of submitted papers should be short and informative.

Authors: The title should be followed by the full names of all authors with a cross-reference to the affiliation

Affiliations: The list of author’s institution names (affiliation) should follow the list of authors according to the cross-references in the authors list

Abstract (short summary) of no more than 150 words should be supplied. The abstract should be written in the third person. The abstract should contain solely the essential results and conclusions of the presented work. Textual formulations from the title should not be repeated and the findings rather than the aim of the work should be described. The information about the potential collaborator’s specialization necessary to accomplish the project should be given in abstract. No references are allowed in Abstract.  

Key words: Short list of terms in the best way describing manuscript scope should be entitled

Introduction: The aim of the work should be explained in the introductory part. The revision of the other works in the same field should be given in a very short form. The description of eventual potential collaboration with other specialists in other discipline should be given in Introduction. No general and handbook’s information is allowed.

Materials and Methods: The necessary information given in this part should be presented to the extent allowing the readers repetition of the whole work described in the paper. No source codes are allowed.

Results: Results should be presented logically in a straightforward and clear fashion. Results should be distinctly separated from comments and discussion. Well known methods and techniques should not be described in detail. They should be designated only by the names of their authors or by literature references. Standard statistical methods should be applied, if necessary, to present the results. SI units should be used throughout.

Conclusion and Discussion: The short summary should be given in this part. It should be limited solely to the newly observed/introduced issues. Do not repeat any former part of the manuscript.

Manuscript design: The Authors are responsible for the quality of English language. The references cited should be selective rather than extensive. An exception to this rule are the review articles. The references in the manuscript text should be in a form: ( [1] ) or ( [1], [2], [4]). All references should be listed on a separate sheet numbering in appearing order. References such as »personal communication« and »unpublished results« are not allowed. All Tables, Figures and equations should be numbered using arabic numeral. Each Figure and Table should be referenced in the text as Tab.1. , Fig.1., Eq.1. Equations numbering systems should be given in form (Eq. 1.) at the end of the line presenting the equation. The figures and tables should be pasted in the proper position in the text with the legends below the table or figure. Tables and figures legends should be designed in a fashion that enables understanding without referring to the text. Presentation of the same results in figures and tables will not be accepted.

References: Authors should provide complete, correct and properly structured references, as instructed by the editors. Complete data contains: for article in a journal: Author(s), Title of the article, Journal name (full name or abbreviation according to ISO standard), Volume, Issue, Publication date, pagination. For a book: Author(s), Title, Publisher, Publication place and date. If the article/book has DOI number, the author should include it in the references. DOIs are very easy to find. Most publishers, if they have them, place them at the top of the article front page. Please keep in mind that the DOI number will automatically make the active link ! All data in the reference must be correct. Most common errors are incorrect abbreviations of journal titles or wrong navigation data (like volume number or article pages) of the cited article. Finally, the author ought to prepare references in a APA format (see Appendix A below).

Submitting of manuscripts

Manuscripts may be submitted as attachments to e-mail (bams@cm-uj.krakow.pl) messages together with the cover letter addressed to the Editor. The discipline presented in the publication followed by the names of potential reviewers with their email addresses should be given in the cover letter. The preferred text-processor is Word (*.doc or *.docx).

General remarks

Manuscripts that do not comply with the above guidelines will be returned to the author for required changes. Only after compliance is established, will they be processed for reviewing. Non-adherence to the guidelines slows down the publishing process. Manuscripts returned to the authors for changes and not re-submitted within a period of one month will be considered as new articles as per the date of the last receipt. The editorial staff reserves the right to make editorial corrections of the manuscript and adjust it to the requirements of the journal. The galley with final correction should be returned in 72 h.

Appendix A

Instructions for Authors on References (APA style)

Introduction: This document describes standards for preparing the references in the APA style. The following sections give detailed instructions on citing books, journal articles, newspaper articles, conference papers, theses, webpages and others.  Please provide all the required elements in the references to your paper. Please pay particular attention to spelling, capitalization and punctuation. Accuracy and completeness of references are the responsibilities of the author. Before submitting your article, please ensure you have checked your paper for any relevant references you may have missed. A complete reference should give the reader enough information to find the relevant article. And most importantly, complete and correct references may allow automatic creation of active links by the MetaPress technology that we use for making the electronic version of our journal. Active reference linking is regarded as the greatest benefit of electronic publishing and it adds a lot of value to your publication.
