AuthorsInstructions for authors Submission of Manuscripts The originalof the manuscript should be submitted as an attachment(in .rtf format)by e‐mail to: foltanova@fpharm.uniba.sk. The subject of the e-mail should beentitled as follows: “AF Manuscript submission- the surname of the first author” (example: “AF Manuscript submission - Black”). By one e-mail the author can submit one manuscript.If one author is submitting more manuscripts, the e-mail subject should be different (example: “AF Manuscript submission – Black1, AF Manuscript submission – Black2,”). Editorial board accepts only original articles not previously published and articles that are not being considered or have not been submitted for publication elsewhere. If parts of the results have been publishedas conference abstract or elsewhere, it should be stated in references. The ethical standards of the Helsinki-Tokio Declaration should be kept. This should be mentioned in the Methods of manuscript. Authors, whose submitted research work was performed with the support of a company, should indicate this in Conflict of Interest. Attachments I: Cover letter Stating that the paper has not been published or has not been submitted for a publication or is not under review elsewhere.
Authors have to propose two or more competent referees (including their e-mail addresses and full contact). This proposal is not binding for the Editorial Board.

IV: Tables VI: Approval of the local Ethics Committee (if applicable) VII: Copyright transfer agreement and Conflict of interest declaration (provided by the journal in one document, download from website) Preparing the manuscript The length of the manuscript should not exceed more than 10 pages (Times New Roman 10, spacing 1), in case of a review 16 pages (Times New Roman 11, spacing 1). As language of publication is English, only English manuscripts are accepted.Manuscripts written by authors who are not English native speakers should be checked by an English native speaker before submission. Original research articles should be structured in the following sections:
The subheadings should be written in Times new roman 11, capitals, alighted to the centre, after every subheading a break of 10 points should be kept, after every section 2 breaks of 10 points should be kept. TITLE The title of the article should be short, concise and descriptive. Names of authors with full address of the department, institution or clinic where the work has been performed but without concise academic and professional degrees should be used. ABSTRACT AND KEY WORDS The abstract of the scientific article should contain no more than 300 words. The abstract should summarize relevant information. It should state the purpose of the investigation, basic procedures, main findings together with their statistical significance (if necessary), and principal conclusions. Up to 6 Key words are also to be provided for the purpose of indexing - on a new line underneath the abstract. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS If applicable, max. 800 characters incl. spaces The acknowledgments of the contributions of colleagues can be stated in this section as well as acknowledgments for financial support. If the manuscript was written for the occasion of personal or institutional anniversary it should be mentioned here. TABLES Tables should be submitted separately. Each table should be cited in the text and supplied with a brief title on the top of the table (Times New Roman 10, bold, spacing 1, example: Table 1. Changes in blood pressure). In every table all the abbreviations and non-standard units should be explained. FIGURES Figures should be submitted separately. Black and white color or grey shading is preferred. They should be numbered in Arabic numerals in order of appearance in the text, where they are referred to as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc. Figures that include more than one image should be organized economically and labeled as a, b, c, etc. (small letters). Under every figure a brief title has to be cited (Times New Roman 10, bold, spacing 1, example: Figure 1. Changes in blood pressure). In every figure all the abbreviations and non-standard units should be explained.
UNITS OF MEASUREMENT Units of measurement should be in accordance with International System of Units (SI). ABBREVIATIONS Avoid abbreviations in the title and abstract except well-known or official nomenclature-based ones. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first occurrence in the text, further in the text abbreviation should be used only. REFERENCES Each mentioning of statements or findings by other authors should be supported by reference. Cited references in the text are to be cited using the surname(s) of the author(s) followed by the year of publication of the work referred to, e.g. (Huddle, 2010), (Huddle & Smith, 2010). In case of more than two authors, use name of first author followed by "et al.", e.g. (Smith et al., 2010). If several works are cited, they should be organized alphabetically, starting with A. If more than one publication of same author(s) use the surname followed by the oldest work first, e.g.: (Huddle et al., 1993, 1996). Avoid using abstracts and personal communications as references (the latter can be cited in the text). The list of the cited literature should be added at the end of the contribution. Literature should be cited according to the enclosed instructions that are in accordance with those used by U. S. National Library of Medicine in Index Medicus. The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus (complete list on the URL address: http://www.nlm.nih.gov). Examples for literature citation: Note: For six or fewer authors, list all author names. For seven or more authors, list the first three author names, then “et al.”

Editorial Policy 1. SCOPE OF THE JOURNAL Acta Facultatis Pharmaceuticae Universitatis Comenianae is a reviewed, scientific journal that publishes mainly original research articles on medical or pharmaceutical sciences. Only current review articles from experts in the field or invited review articles will be considered for publication in the journal. The journal welcomes submissions of articles on current research in pharmacy, preclinical and clinical research and related disciplines (pharmaceutical chemistry, physics, pharmacognosy and botany, biochemistry and molecular biology). 2. MANUSCRIPT STANDARDS The articles should be written in line with the Instructions for Authors. 3. RECEIVING THE MANUSCRIPT IN THE EDITORIAL OFFICE All manuscripts received by the Editor are considered as confidential documents. During the editorial procedure, the secrecy of the contribution content is guaranteed. The manuscript is examined for the conformity to the Instructions for Authors by the Editor. Failure to meet the Instructions results in return of the manuscript for correction before an evaluation. A notification of receiving the manuscript and accepting it for further evaluation is sent by e‐mail to the corresponding author within one week. 4. REVIEWING PROCESS Articles submitted to the Acta Facultatis Pharmaceuticae Universitatis Comenianae will be reviewed by the editors and referees according to the highest academic standards. The review process is handled by 1-2 independent international experts in the field. The review process lasts approximately 8 weeks. Invited referees, confidential for authors, evaluate the manuscript according to the following aspects: a) Originality b) Importance in its field c) Results and their interpretation d) Adequacy of methodology e) Theoretical background f) Formal Aspects g) Overall quality Every item can be evaluated as Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor and thus the manuscript can be evaluated as: a) acceptable in its present form b) acceptable after minor revision (no further review required) c) reconsidered after major revision d) not acceptable for publication When the review process is finished, a decision e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author, including the comments of the referee(s). 5. ACCEPTING THE MANUSCRIPT If the paper is accepted in its present form or after minor revision any corrections suggested by the reviewers, should be made within the period of time indicated in the decision e-mail (one week – 8 weeks). If the paper is accepted after major revisions, it will be resubmitted for review to the same referee(s). After a second review of the corrected manuscript, a final decision e-mail concerning publication is sent to the corresponding author. 6. FINAL VERSION OF THE MANUSCRIPT Accepted articles pass a language revision by native speaker, expert in the field. Final version is provided to the corresponding author for proofreading before publishing the article. The proof checked by the corresponding author should be returned to the Editorial Office by e-mail within 5 working days. The final version after proof reading is submitted within 5 working days, the electronic version is released as early bird. 7. AVAILABILITY AND COPYRIGHT The Journal is issued TWICE a year. Each article is published online in PDF format at http://www.fpharm.uniba.sk/index.php?id=3101andhttp://www.versitaopen.com/afpuc/as soon as it is ready for publication. Public access to articles in the Acta Facultatis Pharmaceuticae Universitatis Comenianae is free of charge. The Journal articles are indexed in SCOPUS and EBSCO databases.
